CIS 236: Honors Information Systems

Professor Sopha

In the "Streets to Shelter" project, which I led as part of a competitive initiative in my Honors Information Systems class at Arizona State, I demonstrated my business acumen and innovative thinking. This venture, emerging victorious in the inter-class competition, wasn't just a testament to my ability to ideate and develop compelling business concepts; it also showcased my proficiency in navigating and excelling in a competitive academic environment. My team and I focused on creating a sustainable and scalable business model, using technology-driven solutions like user-friendly kiosks and a mobile app to connect homeless individuals with shelters and nonprofit organizations. This project was a balancing act of humanitarian concern and strategic business planning, reflecting my capacity to fuse social responsibility with profitability.

Our success in this project was rooted in our ability to work cohesively as a group, harnessing our collective strengths to outshine other groups with their own innovative ideas. As a leader, I guided our team through the complexities of market analysis, operational planning, and strategic execution, ensuring that our solution was not only effective but also feasible and financially viable in the competitive landscape of the greater Phoenix area. This experience honed my skills in market research, data analysis, and critical thinking. It was a clear demonstration of my entrepreneurial spirit, my knack for identifying and capitalizing on market opportunities, and my commitment to delivering results that are both socially impactful and commercially successful.
